Our rape crisis counsellors don’t just encourage and counsel their clients, but also each other and that is what makes the program so strong. Today they discuss Galatians 5:22-26 (22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another) and using this verse, the counsellors share their experiences and talk about how to keep providing a critical service, without getting burnt out themselves.

They share stories about patience, and how they understand that moving past a violent crime is difficult for most victims. Our counsellors discuss the need to be patient with their clients and how only through God, can they fully support victims of sexual violence.

The counsellors’ learn about the Bible and biblical foundations so they can ground their work in the Lord. They regularly come together and study the Bible and each take turns being the teacher. These meetings keep the program going, keep the counsellors going and ensure the program is sustained through God. This gives our counsellors the power to combat a terrible, yet widespread, crime in their areas.

Through them, the Lord’s work is done.
